A while ago, I signed up to be a mentor with the San Diego Foster Youth Mentorship Program. Today, I was matched up with the 16 year old boy that I’ll be mentoring. He seems like a really great kid. I am looking forward to getting to know him!
I am pretty convinced that the High Fashion industry is just as sick, twisted, morally corrupt, and possibly criminal as Big Tobacco. Case in point: the bearded anorexic alien women of the Berlin fashion show. Patrick Mohr, the designer, needs to be institutionalized for idealizing this “look” and the “models” should be hospitalized — immediately. Gross. Double gross.
I went to see Twilight Eclipse last weekend. In doing so, I remembered why I can’t get into this Vampire series.
These vampires live a life that would be my idea of hell. Can you imagine being stuck in highschool FOREVER? Now, add to that that this little troop of “good” vampires:
- don’t have premarital sex,
- don’t kill the awful highschool kids who give them a hard time,
- do their homework, and
- live in a rainy, overcast po-dunk town outside of Seattle.
Eternity in highschool? Kill me now. I’d be the vampire booking the first flight to Maui to spend a little time in the sunshine!
Eternity in college might work a little better for me. But even then I probably wouldn’t want to do my homework after 25 years or so, and I’d reserve the right to kill anyone wearing patchouli.
One year ago, I adopted my dog: Cecilia/”CC.” Recently, I learned that this anniversary is called “Gotcha Day” amongst some adoptive families and pet owners.
Cecilia is an excellent animal companion: consistent, smart, sweet, fun, and compliant. She’s also a beautiful and calm dog. People regularly stop us and pet her and ask about her breed and racing history, so she’s opened up opportunities for me to speak with very interesting people. CC has been a wonderful addition to my life and I love her.
Greyhounds are a fantastic breed. If you are considering adopting a dog, please consider adopting a former racing greyhound. Thousands of these fantastic dogs are put down every year after their racing career is over. Give a greyhound a chance, and celebrate your own Gotcha Day!
